Galerija Mirko Virius is home to the Croatian Association of Naive Artists (Hrvatsko Društvo Naivnih Umjetnika - HDNU) and the gallery is at once their administrative office and exhibition space. Representative works from HDNU members are available for viewing (and purchasing) year round, moving only to make way for a steady stream of temporary exhibitions by local and visiting Naive artists in a wide variety of media. If you don't see "Night Owls" on display, ask to visit the office where the owls often take their rest during temporary exhibits.
Begun in 2010 and finished in the early spring of 2011, "Night Owls" started as one of my very earliest oil on glass paintings. Since then owls have become one of my favourite motifs and they do pop up in the most unexpected places. "Night Owls" was invited to join the HDNU's permanent collection in May 2011.
